Feeling anxious, stuck, or overwhelmed? This simple technique can help you release tension and find a new perspective.

Speak Your Truth Without Trying to Fix It

Instead of trying to feel better immediately, allow yourself to acknowledge and express your true feelings. Start by saying, “I am not okay because…”

Don’t try to distract yourself, tap it out, use affirmations, or force gratitude. Simply speak your truth out loud and allow yourself to feel whatever arises – whether it’s sadness, anger, or frustration. Let it out. Cry, break down, or get angry if you need to.

This Isn’t About Being a Victim

This exercise isn’t about dwelling on your circumstances or carrying the story with you. It’s about releasing your true feelings so something can shift within you.

What Happens After?

After you voice and feel your emotions, you might find yourself feeling more relaxed and gaining a new perspective. You might also see what’s causing your feelings and what you need to address. For some, this might mean turning off the news, taking more time alone, shifting relationships, or even making a bigger change like moving.

Connecting to Your Truth

If you have trouble connecting to your truth, try leaving a voice note to yourself or a voice message to a trusted friend who can provide a safe space for you to express your feelings.

An Example

For example, expressing “I’m not even taking pictures, I’m not inspired at all” helped me release that feeling from my body. Later that day, without any intention, I took a photo and felt inspired to create something.

The Power of Speaking Your Truth

Sometimes, you just need to speak and feel the truth of the moment. Saying “I am not okay, I am so bored I need…” or “I feel scared about…” and allowing yourself to feel sad and cry can lead to a release. Afterwards, you may feel more grounded, relaxed, and present without your feelings blocking you.

Find Calm After the Release

Allowing yourself to have a breakdown can lead to feeling relaxed and calm.✨
