As someone who has tried more different healing modalities than I can count at various points along my healing journey, it’s no surprise to me to see new detoxes come and go.

One that has been gathering a lot of attention is the medical medium, and so in this article, I’m going to share my views in answer to the question ‘Is the Medical Medium legitimate’?

My clients often ask me about Medical Medium candida protocols, what my medical medium experience has been, is Medical Medium legit, and even is medical medium a scam?

To start answering those questions in this blog post, I’ll start by sharing more about my own healing journey from many chronic systems, including candida, bloating, and many others.

Looking back at my healing journey, I’ve tried it all…

Fasting  ✓

Raw food diet  ✓

50 different detox methods  ✓

You name it – I did it!

I even created 5 different healing directories; two in Atlanta over 7 years, two in Thailand, and one in San Francisco, and I personally tried every single listing in each directory. In one of my businesses, my brand name was The Detox Advisor.

Many detox methods helped me at different times. With diet and supplements, I experienced some physical healing, and there’s no denying that the medical medium protocol does help some people to feel better from what they share of their results.

But eventually, my soul would express itself through more chronic symptoms.

I’m shocked at some of the things I tried during the darkest days of my suffering. Pain can lead us to dangerous situations. When we’re suffering, it’s easy to grasp for the nearest solution.

And it’s this kind of scenario that gets people asking, is the medical medium dangerous?

You may ignore your intuition, and sometimes even common sense, out of desperation. I did.

And that’s why I help people listen to themselves and their body, instead of chasing the latest fad — especially when it’s a one-size-fits-all or is presented as being a solution from a higher source, as the spirit of compassion medical medium is.

Things like juicing and raw food are healing for some, but not for all, and not all the time. Everyone is on their own path and has unique needs. And even something that has helped you heal in the past may not be the thing that will help heal your current symptoms.

By now, most people in healing communities have heard of Anthony William, the Medical Medium. Recently, I’ve noticed a lot of celebrities and influencers promoting him and his protocol.

If you haven’t heard of the Medical Medium, according to Wikipedia, “William is a medium who offers medical and health advice based on alleged communication with “Spirit of Compassion”. He authors books as well as offers advice online on such forums as Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP column and his own website.”

Generally speaking, the medical medium diet consists of mainly raw foods, lots of juicing, and expensive supplements.

In addition to his books, consulting for celebrities, professional athletes, and other high-profile individuals, William promotes a LARGE variety of supplements via Amazon affiliate links on his website.

William’s books include:

  • Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal
  • Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods: Save Yourself and the Ones You Love with the Hidden Healing Powers of Fruits & Vegetables
  • Medical Medium Thyroid Healing: The Truth behind Hashimoto’s, Graves’, Insomnia, Hypothyroidism, Thyroid Nodules & Epstein-Barr
  • Medical Medium Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease

And his most recent, Medical Medium Celery Juice: The Most Powerful Medicine of Our Time Healing Millions Worldwide.

After one look at William’s Instagram account, there’s a good chance that anyone desperate for relief from their symptoms would jump to buy whatever he’s selling. After all, who doesn’t love a good before and after photo?

But when a solution sounds too good to be true, when you “can’t believe your eyes”, it’s critical to do your due diligence.

It is always best to have some healthy skepticism for anything claimed to be a panacea, “a heal all”.

Unfortunately, trying to find balanced medical medium reviews is harder than it should be, making it harder to do your own due diligence in this case, and has prompted people to ask is the medical medium a scam?

The reason for this is that even amazon reviews for the medical medium diet products are overwhelmingly glowing.

This article summarizes many of the things that I find most concerning about William’s work and is worth reading by anyone considering following candida medical medium treatment (or for any other condition).

Even without the information I found in his client reviews, the story about Kate Gallagher Leong, and the shady Amazon review process (see the article linked above), William’s one-size-fits-all protocol is a serious red flag.

Every book he writes “prescribes” a mostly raw vegan diet and juicing with a lot of expensive supplements. This restrictive diet works for many people and while they may experience some level of relief from their symptoms, such an approach often leads to over reliance on a very restrictive lifestyle, unnecessarily. And some body types should not eat too much raw, it could make things (digestive problems, feeling scattered, spacey and ungrounded) worse for them.

I have frequently seen that once a person eats something outside of his, or other such protocol, they feel worse, blame it on the “impure food” or not following the “rules” (such as eating carbs with fat), and go into a guilt/shame spiral, including about their body, and how they weren’t/aren’t “perfect”. From this perspective, it can be seen how these types of diets exploit, intentionally or otherwise, the insecurities about our bodies that we receive from our culture, family, and friends.

Restricted diets, cleansing and fasting, are harmful to some, don’t address the root cause for many, and can be a continuation of disordered eating and perfectionism.

As with so many other detoxes and healing modalities that focus solely on diet, a medical medium detox will do nothing to address emotional and holistic causes of your condition and may make that side of things worse.

Diets such as the medical medium diet are often incredibly restrictive, and instead of your symptoms and emotions that surround your symptoms being healed, they can get pushed deeper inside you through toxic shame.

Medical medium testimonials that appear glowingly positive are in one way not surprising – most people will see an improvement if they go from eating a diet with junk food to mostly fruits and vegetables. This medicine medium, however, will not get to the root cause.

When physical symptoms flare up, it’s easier to blame it on the food you weren’t “supposed” to eat than to pay attention to your triggers and emotional needs. In doing this, you are giving away your power and repressing what needs your attention. You lose the ability to eat intuitively and recognize what foods work best for your specific needs. And, you block your ability to address the root cause of your symptoms. In fact, the shame you feel from not being perfect with food actually continues the toxic shame you felt in childhood; the source of many symptoms.

The solution is to connect to your true feelings and inner guidance system so you can trust and think for yourself and listen to your body and your intuition.

Before I founded Core Emotional Healing®, I was a health and detox coach. Once I healed myself emotionally, I stopped having body image issues and an eating disorder.

I also stopped telling people what to eat, because:

1) It’s often emotional, and diets aren’t addressing the cause.

2) After addressing the emotional cause, people listen to their intuition and body, and not the latest fad, because they no longer feel they need to restrict what they eat and have released limits within themselves and in all areas of their life.

In short, they no longer need to be told what to do because they are no longer thrown off from their true nature, their inner guidance system knows best.

I shared my opinion on William’s work on Facebook and my client, Alison, commented:

“Anyone who switches from a standard American diet to the fruits and veggies he recommends is going to feel better. I personally had negative experiences with the Medical Medium and another medium (her people recruited me from a MM FB group). It confirmed that Core Emotional Healing has had the greatest impact on my health. I began to question mediums altogether and when John of God’s crimes were revealed, that was my message to renounce all mediums completely and rely on my own intuition and connection to self for well being.”

William’s protocol is nothing new. There have been plenty of raw food, detox, and juicing books and programs out there for the past 40 years.

Medical Medium Detox

Any restrictive diet can help for a bit – the 80/10/10, BED, etc. But these diets aren’t sustainable long-term and aren’t addressing the emotional cause and the individual soul’s lessons.

In fact, they misdirect away from the inner work, the lessons, and the benefits of the healing and growth.

Another serious problem with William is that he promotes himself as an ultimate authority, a medium, claiming that he channels this information from spirit, and has even said that he is the only one on earth with this gift. He makes this claim and people believe his information is correct because it is coming from a higher source.

The same happens when people give their power away to doctors, thinking they have all the answers and know what’s best for their body.

We have been taught this pattern in our culture, and this also takes us away from our deeper inner knowing and direction.

William isn’t channeling specific causes and treatments for individuals, it’s all very much the same.

Every body is different.
Every symptom can have different causes.
That means that each person has different needs for healing.

When diets and supplements aren’t working, it’s time to look at the emotional and spiritual causes.

Just as we have been taught in our culture to be ashamed of how we look, and to rely on external authority, we have also been taught to look elsewhere, away from our emotional and spiritual selves, leaving us disempowered and dependent.

My Core Emotional Healing® Program can help you access your repressed emotional pain and needs. Focusing on the physical can feel safer, and having a simple physical explanation that claims to cure your symptoms seems so easy.

But here’s what promoters of all of these restrictive diets aren’t teaching you…

Our body is a manifestation of our internal psychological state and our soul’s path.

The best lesson I learned on my healing journey is to listen to my body and intuition over anyone else. When you reconnect to yourself and begin expressing the emotions that have been repressed, you stop looking for the quick fix. You learn how to access your inner knowing and don’t have to keep seeking answers from others.

You don’t have to suffer unnececelery.  😉

You can learn about the emotional root cause and top blocks to healing with my free Empowered Healing gift (above).
